Red Rising

Darrow is a Helldiver in the mines a mile beneath the surface of Mars, part of a clan of Reds who believe they are terraforming the planet for humanity’s future. When his wife Eo is executed for an act of quiet defiance, he learns the truth: Mars has been habitable for generations, and his people are slaves to a golden elite. The rebel Sons of Ares remake his body and send him to compete at the Institute, where the Society’s young Golds are set against one another in a savage trial for power.

Darrow wins command of the Institute and is drafted straight into the household of ArchGovernor Nero au Augustus — but not before Julian au Bellona dies by his hand, making an enemy of Cassius for years to come.

Golden Son

Years later, Darrow is a rising star of Gold society — a fleet commander and political piece moved between the great Houses. As the feud between Augustus and Bellona threatens to consume him, he gambles everything on turning the Society’s own power structure into the instrument of its destruction.

A victory celebration becomes a massacre: Roque’s betrayal delivers Darrow to the Jackal, and the book ends with him captured and the Rising leaderless.

Morning Star

Held in darkness and nearly broken, Darrow is freed by his friends to do the thing he has avoided since Eo died: lead an open war. The Rising gathers Reds, Obsidians and dissident Golds into a single army and drives toward Luna and the Sovereign herself.

The trilogy ends with Octavia dead, the Jackal executed, a Solar Republic declared, and Darrow married to Virginia — a victory that the sequel arc spends years complicating.

Iron Gold

A decade after the trilogy, the Republic is exhausted and divided, and the war against the Society’s remnant grinds on. The story widens to four viewpoints: Darrow the tired general, Lysander au Lune the exiled heir, Lyria a Red refugee whose liberation led only to a camp, and Ephraim a Gray thief hired for a job that will rattle Luna.

The idealism of the Rising meets the arithmetic of governing. Nobody comes out clean.

Dark Age

The war goes catastrophically wrong on every front at once. Darrow is stranded deep in enemy space; Virginia fights to hold a fracturing government on Luna; Lysander finds a home — and a ruthlessness — among the Golds of the Rim. The saga’s darkest and largest book.

Atalantia au Grimmus consolidates the Gold coalition, the Obsidian under Sefi turn on the Republic that failed them, and the siege of Mercury becomes a slaughterhouse.

Light Bringer

After the disasters of the Dark Age, Darrow makes the long journey home through a Solar System that has half-forgotten him — and half-turned him into a myth. A book about grief, endurance, and whether the man and the legend can be the same person.

Old alliances are rebuilt, Cassius and Darrow finally reckon with each other, and the pieces are set for a final confrontation with Atalantia’s coalition.

Red God
