Fourteen Colors, one pyramid
The Society sorts every human being into a Color at birth — each one bred, conditioned and legally bound to a single role. Select a Color to read what it does, who stands for it, and where it sits in the order.
The Iron Compact
After the Conquering — when the first Golds overthrew the old democracies of Earth and Luna — the victors wrote the Compact: a body of law that fixes each Color to its function and forbids mixing, climbing, or questioning. It is enforced by Grays, blessed by Whites, administered by Coppers, and financed by Silvers.
The genius of the system is that almost every Color is given someone beneath it. Only the Reds and the deliberately blinded Obsidians are left with nothing to look down on — which is exactly where the Rising begins.
Strength in chains
Obsidians are the largest and most dangerous people in the Society — and the most controlled. Raised on the frozen poles in engineered ignorance, taught that Golds are literal gods and that literacy is blasphemy, they are a standing army that polices itself through myth.
It is why freeing even one Obsidian — teaching them to read, showing them a Gold can bleed — is treated by the Society as an act of terrorism.
